CWS Durham has been welcoming refugees and immigrants into the Triangle area since 2009 – almost ten years! We provide services and support for refugee clients from when they first arrive at the Raleigh-Durham airport to when they are eligible to apply for citizenship five years later. Our goal for every one of the refugees that we serve is self-sufficiency: we work to empower our clients in a variety of ways, including strengths-based case management services , English classes, job training and placement services, and legal services. This work of empowerment also includes equipping refugees with tools to change the local and national narrative around immigration and refugee resettlement through our community organizing and advocacy initiative.
