| Welcoming Afghans to North Carolina
Following the fall of Kabul and the evacuation of Afghan friends and allies, over 75,000 Afghans have arrived in the United States to rebuild their lives. They are fleeing retribution or persecution from the Taliban and have one goal: to live in safety.
Since October 1, CWS Durham together with CWS Greensboro has welcomed close to 400 Afghans across North Carolina, with over 250 arriving in the Triangle. These families need support with housing, legal assistance, case management, mental health support, medical care, and employment. Community members and volunteers are making this work possible.
*The State of North Carolina has reached its capacity for Afghan resettlement, but CWS Global is working with partners to continue resettling Afghans across the country in non-traditional resettlement communities.
