Volunteer Orientation

Volunteers are vital to CWS’s work welcoming refugees as they arrive in America and settle into their new homes.  There are numerous ways to get involved–from one time projects like furnishing an apartment to longer term commitments like teaching an ESL class.  We hope that you will search through this page and find an opportunity that fits your skills and gifts as well as your own time availability. Don’t hesitate to contact our Program Director, Ellen Andrews at eandrews@cwsglobal.org  if you have any questions about volunteering with CWS!

Getting Started:

In order to volunteer with CWS, you’ll need to first fill out our online Volunteer Application and then attend an orientation session. The time for the next orientation session is listed below in red text. The CWS volunteer orientation session lasts for approximately one hour and will take place at our office, 112 S. Duke Street. We’re in the same building with Parker and Otis coffee shop!

The next volunteer orientation will be Monday, January 12th from 5:30-6:30 PM  at 112 S. Duke St. Durham, NC 27701.

  2. I was wondering if the volunteer orientation is still scheduled for today or not due to this afternoons weather warnings and early school closings.

  3. Hi I filled out an application for volunteering – however, I’m not able to attend the orientation on Monday evenings. Is it possible to meet with you during the day?
