Fiscal Co-sponsorship: A financial support model lasting for 3 months where a group assists a newly arrived refugee by paying utility and rent bills for their first 90 days in the US.
Due to limited office capacity as a result of the recent executive orders, we are engaging only in fiscal cosponsorships; providing opportunities for communities with financial means to support a refugees’ transition with economic assistance only. This model involves NO direct service, and provides new arrivals the opportunity to save some funds and develop a safety cushion for the difficult months of transition ahead.
DID YOU KNOW… each refugee arrives to the US with only $925 to their name; funds that are supposed to cover expenses like rent, utilities, and other expenses for the first 90 days of their life here?
DID YOU KNOW… that fiscal co-sponsorship provides financial security in a time of tumultuous transition for a refugee individual or family. and a small portion goes to support direct service provision and infrastructure at CWS office for ongoing refugee services in the future?
