This spring Church World Service is partnering with The Volunteer Center of Durham to raise awareness of refugees and immigrants in the Triangle as well as volunteer opportunities within our organization and within the Durham community. The Triangle area race will be held on March 26, 2011 and features a 5k competitive run and a 5k community walk through downtown Durham.
In addition to raising awareness of refugees and immigrants, our goal is to raise $5,000 in support of new Church World Service initiatives including a “Crafty Conversations” women’s craft group, our first World Refugee Day Celebration festival and our Immigration Services Program. There are several ways that you can partner with us as we strive towards seeing these goals become reality:
1.) Sponsor us: If you are unable to walk or run in the year’s race please consider making a donation to Church World Service. We would love to see 100 donations of $50. You can give online at the Church World Service Great Human Race fundraising website, or send a check directly to our office at 112 S. Duke St. Suite 4b, Durham, NC 27701. Please make checks payable to The Great Human Race and be sure to put Church World Service on the memo line.
2.) Join us for the race: Get out your walking shoes and help us raise money by asking family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to sponsor you with a contribution. Participation is free, and walkers who raise at least $50.00 and turn in their money prior to March 22nd, 2011 will receive a Great Human Race t-shirt.
3.) Spread the word: Pass this link on to your friends: http://www.active.com/donate/ghr2011/cwsrdu
We hope you’ll join the Church World Service team in racing to raise funds that assist in expanding our services to refugees and immigrants arriving in the Triangle. Please call Mariel or Amy at 919-680-4310 to register for the walk! For more information about The Great Human race you can view their website at www.greathumanrace.org
Thanks for your support!
